Links made with grandsons of war heroes

May 18, 2015 by Susan Roberts Leave a Comment

Derek Head and Chris Negus (1)A breakthrough moment on the project when a link was found with the grandsons of men who played in the rugby matches on the Front after Camborne Rugby team sent out a ball. A chance meeting with Roy Blewett, a local historian, at the Cornish Studies Library, Redruth, helped to make the connection.  Roy’s second cousin Chris Negus knew about the match: his grandfather was Fred Negus and he even has a photograph of Fred holding the ball which we put on display in the Heart of Conflict exhibition at the Cornish Studies Library, Redruth.

Chris is pictured on the right: on the left is Derek Head of Camborne, whose grandfather Fred also played in the matches.
