The Charles family during World War One

November 10, 2020 by Susan Roberts Leave a Comment

Many thanks to Gerry Macon who has connected via Facebook and given permission for us to put up these splendid photos of members of the Charles family from the Camborne area in the World War One years.

Arthur Charles is the maternal grandfather of Chris Negus (first cousin of Gerry), whose paternal grandfather Fred Negus was in the 25th Field Ambulance and features in such a lot of the stories that we’ve uncovered locally relating to World War One.

Here are the photographs supplied by Gerry: the men were clearly in the Field Ambulance but apparently not the 25th. In one of the photographs, Arthur  (below) – a driver with the Field Ambulance – holds a cane for encouraging on the  horses …. We will keep trying to find out more information.
