Passport issued to a bereaved mother

July 4, 2017 by Susan Roberts Leave a Comment

A passport issued in 1921 to Mrs E.M. Jenkin, the mother of William Gendall Jenkin, a Cornish miner who was killed in France in December 1915. These passports were issued for a limited period – especially to allow relatives of war dead to visit overseas graves. Mrs Jenkin (born in 1865) was nearly 60 at this time. Her son had died six years earlier.IMG_7533 IMG_7532

We are very grateful to Juliet Jenkin, of Redruth, for the loan of this passport for our Truro exhibition and for all the information relating to William Gendall Jenkin.
